Cricket is Spreading Smiles for Miles

In October, Cricket Wireless continued our efforts to show that giving and gratitude are always in season. For this update, we're spotlighting some of our initiatives out of California.

To show our appreciation to California firefighters for their heroic and tireless efforts during this year’s disastrous wildfire season, we—along with Authorized Retailers TKS Wireless and Prestige Enterprises—surprised local fire stations in Napa Valley and Susanville, respectively. Additionally, the Cricket team also reached out to the local station in Santa Monica to show our gratitude. Donated gifts ranged from grocery gift cards to phone chargers and even hundreds of pounds of coffee. This is just one small way to give a big thank you for all they’ve done, and continue to do, to keep our communities and families safe.

In the spirit of giving, we presented $5,000 to the Salvation Army of Sacramento to support virtual learning programs and school supply needs for youth throughout the city. The donation was facilitated by our LIKES FOR LEARNING campaign, where we donated $1 to the Salvation Army for every “like” we received on our local Facebook page—up to 5,000.

Similarly, in Oakland, we implemented LIKES FOR LEADERSHIP to benefit the East Oakland Youth Development Center (EOYDC). We were pleased to present the EOYDC with $5,000 to assist with their Pathway to College readiness program, which prepares students in 9th to 12th grades for post-secondary life, with an emphasis on college persistence and completion. The program has workshops, SAT prep and discussion forums.

And finally, to put a sweet finish to the month, Cricket teamed with the Richstone Family Center in Hawthorne to support their annual Halloween event. Due to the pandemic, safety practices such as face coverings and social distancing were enforced to ensure children and their families could safely enjoy the holiday. For our part, we, along with Authorized Retailer TKS, hosted a mini pumpkin station and handed out goodie bags filled with candy, earbuds and masks to those in attendance.

These are just a few of the activities Cricket participated in during October. Stay tuned for next month's update.
