For 20 years, the United States President and Congress have dedicated October to raise awareness around the importance of cybersecurity. In alignment with the theme Secure Our World, we wanted to share how we work to protect our customers and how you can do your part to keep your information safe.

How We’re Protecting Our Customers
  • Cricket Call Defense checks the source of incoming calls to help you determine if it’s from a contact or a spoofed number. It automatically blocks known fraudulent calls and SMS messages and warns you about potential spam calls. This free feature is included with all rate plans on eligible devices. You can manage this feature in the myCricket App.
  • Software updates not only include cool new features, but they also have security updates to keep hackers away. New vulnerabilities are identified frequently so staying on top of software updates is key to keeping your device and data secure! Check out our device tutorials to learn more about your specific device.
  • Cricket has an array of apps suited to make your experience with us something to smile about. Learn more about apps such as the myExpert App that assists with technical support, smart home networks, password help, and more.
  • Cricket customers are eligible for a one-month free trial of the AT&T Secure Family® App. Manage your children’s smartphone usage by locating their device, blocking apps or websites, supervising internet use, and more. Primary account holders can add up to 10 family member profiles and up to 30 family devices to their Secure Family account.

What Can You Do?
  • Do your part by creating a strong password to combat attempts to steal your data. According to cisa.gov, strong passwords should be long, random, and unique. Avoid personal information such as birthdays and common phrases. If you need to retrieve your username or forget your password, please refer to our support page.
  • Account PIN security enables the primary account holder to limit other users from making account changes or purchases in the myCricket App. The PIN allows you to complete certain tasks such as adding phone lines, getting a new SIM card, changing plans and turning AutoPay on/off. Please note, by default this feature is off and you must turn it on for protection.
  • Activate Account Lock to block SIM Swaps and Port Outs while the feature is turned on. This free feature allows you to lock your account from the myCricket App. Please note, Account Lock changes will apply to all lines on multi-line accounts.
  • Don’t take the phishing bait! Criminals are becoming craftier toward getting users to open harmful links, emails or attachments that can infect our devices. Learn how to identify phishing messages in the form of phone calls, email, text, or direct message on social media. Cisa.gov’s safety tips include:
    • Recognize emotionally appealing language, especially those that claim dire consequences for not responding immediately.
    • If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Resist the temptation to click on links or attachments. Report spam to protect yourself and others.
    • Delete messages. Do not reply or click any links, including any “unsubscribe” links.
